BIG things are happening...

I’m a fervent believer in the power of gathering to create art with friends. The energy of group drawing sessions around the city– peering over each other’s shoulders, giving and receiving advice, sharing new art supplies– is one of life’s simple pleasures.

While living in Cambridge, this was my daily life. I was surrounded by other artists, constantly inspired by their unique ways of seeing– and depicting– the world. Together we looked for beauty and celebrated it in our sketchbooks. We drew in foggy autumn parks, warm cafes, and cheery flowering riverbanks. I felt like a drop in a tidal wave of people all moving towards and motivated by the same thing. The energy was exhilarating.

Nowadays I feel more like a raindrop sliding down a window. I’m still moving towards my artistic goals, but I’m doing it alone. While I’m still proud of my work, I miss the momentum I felt from creating within a community.

I’ve wanted to start a Patreon for years now. People like Emma Carlisle, Rebecca Green, and Sarah Dyer who all run vibrant digital art groups, have inspired me with their generous deep-dives into their creative practices. For years I’ve peered over their shoulders digitally to watch the messiness, beauty, failures, and successes unfold in their client work and personal projects.

Watching other illustrators wrestle with style, technical skills and storytelling has inspired my own work endlessly. I hope my Patreon page can inspire you in the same way.

I've named my Patreon page "Studio Pals," because when you subscribe, you'll gain an intimate look into my process, as if we shared a studio together. Think of us like desk buddies in elementary school! Except you're welcome to copy me.

See you there!
